Senior Software Engineer

Photoroom is looking for a Senior FastAPI Engineer to help build new AI features. You'll use asyncio heavily to build and enhance AI features, improve private API speed, and integrate multiple services to deliver high-quality images and videos to users.

You'll collaborate with the AI Tools squad to implement and improve AI features in the Photoroom app — including Logo Maker, AI Images, AI Videos, and more. The role involves designing and architecting new features that chain internal and external services.

This is a remote-first position with monthly Paris office visits (fully reimbursed). Hiring is open in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, UK, and Poland.

• 5+ years of production Python & FastAPI (minimum baseline)
• Strong practical understanding of FastAPI or a similar async Python HTTP framework
• Ability to keep async actually async — identifying blocking calls, offloading CPU-bound work to threads, and protecting the event loop
• Experience designing and updating internal REST APIs operating at scale
• Experience with integration testing in large Python projects and wiring multiple external services reliably
• Monitoring and performance improvement experience, ideally with Datadog
• Experience in a fast-paced startup with high-autonomy environments
• Bonus: experience working with AI APIs in production
