Senior Product Design Engineer

Cal.com is hiring a Senior Product Design Engineer to own product surfaces end-to-end — from initial concept through production-grade components. You'll work across booking flows, scheduling primitives, and enterprise surfaces, prototyping directly in code with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or v0, and creating handoff-ready primitives for product engineers.

The role includes designing and maintaining custom components rather than leaning on third-party solutions, and contributing to coss ui, the company's open-source Base UI-based component library. Motion design is expected to be used with intentionality and restraint, and accessibility (keyboard navigation, ARIA, WCAG compliance) is treated as a core craft requirement, not an afterthought.

• A product design foundation that has evolved substantially into design engineering
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React
• Expertise in headless primitive composition (Base UI, Radix, or equivalent)
• Experience building and maintaining design systems, not just consuming them
• Strong motion design principles and mature judgment about when animation is warranted
• Daily use of AI coding tools
• Deep knowledge of web standards and platform primitives
• Demonstrated accessibility expertise beyond baseline compliance
• Understanding of API architecture, data models, and state management
• Collaborative mindset with strong written communication
• Experience working through complex, ambiguous product areas from conception through iteration
• Bonus: open-source contributions or publicly viewable side projects
